When you walk with purpose you collide with destiny.

Larry Thomas

President/Principal

My grandfather, father, and big brother were all engineers. I think that lead me into this field. My father worked for a mega corporation his whole career which leads me to create a more intimate and specialized company.

What path brought you here?

When in college, I was introduced to the HVAC industry and fell in love. I really liked the combination of fundamental engineering coupled with the actual building of something that people used every day.

What are you known for professionally?

I think I am really good at visualizing the entire project from start to finish and seeing the areas where their problems might occur.  Putting out fires before they begin – clients really like that.

I also am excellent in reading a set of drawings and telling you where the drawings are not clear, where there are communication issues and where what we have drawn will not work.

What do your clients say about you?

Man of his word.  Does great work.  Cares about me and my projects.  Anticipates my needs.  Sees the unseen.

Who have you worked with (or for) in the past?

I worked for a couple companies after college – each teaching me a different set of skills that led me to where I am today. My first job was a 5-person firm and the owner taught me the importance of producing a quality set of drawings.  Next up was a design build contractor – there I learned how designs were built, not just how you drew it. It was a life changing experience.  After that, I started Thermal Environmental Systems, Inc. (T/E/S Engineering) when I was 31.  Twenty years later we are going strong.

What are you most passionate about professionally?

I am passionate about a bunch of things.

  • Doing the best engineering I am capable of doing!  Being the best.  Always striving to be better.  I hate mediocrity.
  • Finding solutions for our clients.  Solving their problems.
  • Being the guys that people count on.

Where did you grow up and why aren’t you there now?

Columbus, Ohio.  I loved Cleveland and chose to take a job out of college and have been here ever since.

Any volunteer activities you’re crazy about?

Pan Ohio Hope Ride for the American Cancer Society.

What would be impossible for you to give up?

Impossible is a tough word.  Let’s say this.  I love working at T/E/S.  I love helping our company grow and seeing our staff thrive and grow themselves.

My number one goal in life is to be a good person.  I know I can improve and every day I try.  I want to never be satisfied but balance that with enjoying the moment and living in the now.  Sharing this journey with loved ones and good friends.  I seek a life with no regrets.

What are you passionate about personally?

  • My marriage – time with Jackie is number one.
  • Personal improvement – I am on a lifelong quest to get better.  I love learning.  I love to read. I also love teaching.  I read a new book or take a new course and enjoy sharing what I learned with others.
  • Cycling – Cycling has changed my life.  To me is more than exercise.  It is a spiritual event.
