TES Engineering Celebrates 15th Anniversary
CLEVELAND, OH —July 24, 2008 —TES Engineering, a national consulting mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) engineering firm has marked its 15th anniversary. In addition to achieving this milestone, TES recently initiated a program to enable the transition of the Firm to the next generation of leaders. During the past year, TES was honored as one of the fastest growing companies in Northeast Ohio and as a middle-market company that has made significant contributions to the region’s economy.
TES was founded in 1993 by President Lawrence (Larry) M. Thomas, P.E., as Thermal Environmental Systems, Inc., emphasizing HVAC projects for regional industrial clients. The Firm broadened its client base when partner Stephen J. Chase joined in 1995, bringing nearly 20 years of background with regional retail mall developers. The Firm’s name was changed to TES Engineering in 2002 to reflect its broader scope.
TES’ revenues have nearly tripled since 2002, and additional revenue increases of more than 70 percent are projected by 2010. The staff has grown to 29. TES had doubled its space at its previous location in 2004, and moved to new quarters in July 2006 to accommodate additional staff expansion. The current facility has room to triple in size to meet the needs for future growth, including an expansion planned for this year.
Thomas attributes TES’ success to the Firm’s people and approach to customer service. “When we changed our name, we also adopted a logo featuring a lighthouse and the tagline ‘Dependable Guidance,’ which symbolizes our business approach,” he said. “We’ve instilled caring and passion for responsive service into our staff to build our company and culture around developing clients’ trust and turning them into raving fans.”
TES has developed an industry specialization in retail, serving clients that include national developers such as Simon Property Group, Inc., CBL & Associates Properties, Inc., Poag & McEwen Lifestyle Centers, The Westfield Group, and The Richard E. Jacobs Group, Inc. Much of the Firm’s work for these clients has been done through national architects such as Omniplan Architects, ka architecture, and Dorsky Hodgson Parrish Yue. TES also has worked with architects on national retail projects such as Borders, JC Penney, La-Z-Boy®, and Steve & Barry’s, to name a few.
Near TES’ Northeast Ohio headquarters, the company served Dorsky Hodgson Parrish Yue with MEP design for the acclaimed First & Main development in Hudson, as well as the Westgate Mall redevelopment in Cleveland’s western suburbs and Belden Village Mall in Akron. The Firm is currently working with ka architecture on the new JC Penney store in Avon, OH. TES also has broad MEP design expertise in areas such as commercial office space, multi-story residential, senior living, grocery, restaurant, and light industrial, and offers LEED-Accredited engineering guidance. A current green building project is the renovation of an old factory in Ohio City on Cleveland’s West Side into the headquarters office of mbi | k2m Architecture Inc.
Cleveland, OH-based TES Engineering provides flexible specialized consulting MEP engineering activities molded to the business processes of the construction industry nationwide, with an emphasis on regional retail developments. TES’ expertise helps clients create spaces that generate profits quickly, reduce energy use, make changes or expansion decisions efficiently, reduce bid contingencies and risk, troubleshoot code requirements, and speed permitting and construction.
